RIP Bill Buckley

William F. Buckley Jr. has passed away at the age of 82. Words cannot begin to describe the influence he had on American social and political thought for the past 50 years. He was a giant, one of the great thinkers of our time. I honestly believe that conservative accomplishments this past half century (from Goldwater and Reagan, to the rise of conservative think tanks, and to the popular movement of modern conservatism as a whole) can be largely traced to this great man. I miss him already.

One of my favorite Buckley lines...

When asked if he had "referred to Jesse Jackson as an ignoramus," Buckley said, "If I didn't, I should have."
